Homemade: Chocolate Hazelnut Porridge

Obviously, chocolate and hazelnuts are a match made in heaven. *cough* Nutella *cough*. So I thought I’d create a breakfast version of this beautiful combination. Add a touch of caramelised banana and now I’m salivating Homer Simpson style.

This is an easy breakfast to make but it’s ultimately the best. Not exaggerating here. Takes minutes and it’s creamy, delicious and chocolatey. It makes breakfast time an absolute joy.

Who said vegan breakfasts were boring ey?

Serves 2

100g oats (soaked overnight in 250ml water)
250ml milk
50g dark chocolate
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp maple syrup
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper

2 bananas, chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp maple syrup
2 handfuls of hazelnuts (or nut of choice)
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cinnamon

Put all of the porridge ingredients in a saucepan and place over a medium heat. Stir periodically as it heats up and thickens.

Heat the oil and maple syrup over a medium heat until bubbling. Add the bananas, nuts, salt and cinnamon and cook until the bananas have started to break down.

Pour the porridge into bowls and scatter over the toppings. Enjoy!
